NOVEMBER 20, 1983 -- I was born in the capital of the
Land of the Morning Sun: Seoul, South Korea. My parents heard about
Korean adoption from some friends and they say that as soon as they saw
my picture, they fell in love and couldn't wait to hold me in their
arms. On March 11, 1984, at 3 months old, I, Kyung Mi Lee, began my
very first plane ride across the foaming ocean, through sunsets and
sunrises, into the USA. |
|
As the plane landed late in the night in Baltimore, Maryland,
dozens of anxious parents awaited the arrival of the Korean children.
Alison and James Weber with friends and family gathered around gathered
their baby in their arms. And I was just a sweet little angel...right?
Uh, no... |
I, Alexa Nicole Weber, was anything BUT a quiet angel! I came
off the plane as a "screeching owl"; bawling and screaming and NOTHING
was gonna stop me! Well, almost nothing. A Korean guy, complete
stranger, must have seen the wide-eyes of my tired parents. He snatched
me out of their arms and they were aghast! He bounced me on his back
and before long I shut up and grinned... Well, as well as a 3-month-old
can grin. I think that I was quiet after that. Well, my parents say
"ARE YOU KIDDING?" but its called WRITERS LICENCE ok? I was an ANGEL
from then on and still am today. |

2 years later, Cha Yung Shiek began his plight across the ocean.
My brother, Zachary Aaron Weber. We all anxiously awaited my little
brothers arrival. I was so excited... Till I discovered that a brother
wasn't too much fun for quite a while for one big reason: HE COULDN'T
TALK TO ME! I whined and complained and WISHED that he could TALK.
(Now he can talk, and he talks a lot. Now maybe I wish I could undo my
wish!) Just to outdo his sister, HE came off the plane like a REAL
angel without a sound. My parents say he was just a little lamb. Well
Screech Owls just so happen to be very VERY *WISE* so there! |
Years have gone by and my brother Zach and I have become great
friends. We have a wonderful sibling relationship (Seriously!!!) and
people often say that we are in a world of our own. I'm still a wise
old screech owl, but I don't know if he's still a darling lamb. He's
more like a hyena. He is just WAAAAY too funny and I spend most of my
days rolling on the floor laughing out loud because of him. (Or would
that make me the hyena?) Seriously though, he's the greatest brother
and I KNOW that I'm the greatest sister (Right Zach? ZACH???
RIGHT?!?!?) ANYWAY, we came from two different birth-parents but when
time and circumstance come together and meet in the middle there is
plenty of brotherly love (and sisterly love, RIGHT ZACH?)... |
